Are You an Imposter?

If you’ve ever felt that you’re unworthy of your success, your friendships, or your family, you’re likely struggling with imposter syndrome. Feelings are important, but they aren’t always accurate. And they have a way of shaping the way we see the world, like looking through a distorted lens.

As humans, we tend to look for information that confirms our pre-existing beliefs. So if you believe that you’re not good enough, you’re more likely to ignore praise and objective results, and give too much weight to unimportant mistakes and failures.

One way to fight that mindset is to collect evidence against your imposter syndrome. Make a list of projects, promotions, family achievements, exercise goals, and even smaller things of which you feel proud. Going over these wins will help ground you and give you a more objective view of yourself.
