The one with Chandler’s legacy

As we near the two-month mark of Matthew Perry’s untimely death, we’ve heard a lot about his troubles. Perry detoxed more than 65 times in his life, starting at the age of 26. He went public with all his struggles in an effort to show other addicts that they weren’t alone.

Sharing His Story

In 2019, during another stint in rehab, Matthew realized that he had a story to tell, and that it could help other people. He moved beyond self-improvement and into the idea that he could help others instead of feeling consumed by his own struggles. Publishing his brutally honest memoir in 2022 was an important part of that mission—and he considered it even more important than his work on Friends. Our latest Instaread takes a look at his legacy.
