Everything we do is influenced by our emotions. We can’t always control how we feel, but we can choose the emotions we wish to focus on—or ignore.
Start by selecting five emotions you want to focus on for the rest of the day. This core collection of emotions should be positive and affirming. That doesn’t mean you’ll never experience negative emotions like anxiety or guilt. It just means that those feelings won’t control you and color every experience.
It may help to recognize that often our negative emotions are lingering from events in the past. Fixating on bad things that have happened can inadvertently damage our futures. Take advantage of your capacity to imagine and dream to learn to operate out of a vision of the future instead.
