A hard look at the religious right

Has Christianity been hijacked by far-right conservatives? That’s the argument of journalist Tim Alberta, a Christian whose father was an evangelical pastor. Alberta says that the pursuit of power has overshadowed spiritual missions in many of these communities. His new book explores the conflict between authentic faith and political identity.

Losing Ground 

The term “evangelical” has always been ambiguous. It’s only in recent years that it has become so politically charged. Not coincidentally, demographic projections suggest that Christians will soon be a minority in the United States. As church attendance falls and Christianity’s influence on society wanes, evangelicals face a choice: they can compete for power or strive for personal and collective growth.
