For the love of the game ⚾

Baseball has such a rich and magical history, which is one reason why so many people love the game. Our new release celebrates baseball’s enduring impact by highlighting iconic events, important people, and forgotten gems. Here’s one of the 50 most memorable moments described in Why We Love Baseball.

Shoeless Joe

Some of the best players in the game are remembered for both their best and worst moments. Joe Jackson earned his nickname in 1908, when his painful new shoes led him to play just in his socks. After a successful career, he was traded to the Chicago White Sox. His luck changed when he was banned from the sport after he and seven teammates threw the 1919 World Series.
